CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING STRUCTURE AND CONNECTIONS OF THE MAIN LINKAGES OF COLD FORMING MACHINE-TOOLS

» Abstract. In certain machine-tools two or more main motions can be identified, operating simultaneously or in sequence, driven independently or not, being in most cases of the same nature and correlated. The directions of the main motions may coincide or not. Regardless of the type of drive and the nature of the main motion, the association of two or more main linkages of a cold forming machine-tool is achieved in the same mode as the association of linkages of cutting machine-tools: series, parallel and series-parallel. By stressing that the composition and association modes of cold forming machine-tool linkages are mainly identical to those applied in cutting machine-tools, the paper argues by this aspect too, the cold forming machine-tools belong indisputably to the wide and diverse class of machine-tools.

MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF AN ORIGINAL PRECISION CUTTING DEVICE

» Abstract. Modeling and simulation in a virtual environment of the technical system that is the object of the ongoing research do not represent irrefutable arguments, but instruments facilitating high level designing of the product and minimization of experimental research costs.
The family of compact precision cutting devices of bars with elastic radial clamping on both sides of the cutting plane is based on anew concept, requiring validation by modeling and simulation, as well the testing of an experimental model. The paper presents the constructive solution of the experimental model, an extensive mathematical model as well as a restricted one, based on the operational and strain particularities of the model.

ASPECTS CONCERNING THE REDUCTION OF LIQUID ALLOY CONSUMPTION IN LATERAL FEEDERS

» Abstract. The paper presents the results of a study on the influence of the number of parts connected to the lateral feeders on the real solidification module and on the specific consumption of liquid alloy in casting. It is shown that an increase in the number of parts connected to a lateral feeder causes an increase of the real solidification module of the feeder. The efficiency of liquid alloy utilization in the feeder is improved due to the increase of the parts mass to total mass of the alloy cast in the mould ratio. Further the possibility is created for reducing feeder volume due to the increased real solidification module.

URBAN ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE MAPPING

» Abstract. Starting from the most recent researches on environmental noise, according to the European Directives, the paper presents the methods used for urban noise mapping. Finally, the authors propose an example of such a map drawn for a much agglomerated crossing in Braşov.

SOME RESEARCH RESULTS REGARDING THE VIRTUAL AND AUGMENT REALITY. CASE STUDIES

» Abstract. An industrial product goes through several phases from the starting idea to the finished product (conception, design, prototyping etc.) and more to the selling, use and end of life. Each of these phases required the interaction of human beings (the designer, an engineer, a worker, the customer, etc). The virtual reality (VR) is characterized by the real time interaction between the user and the system while the augmented reality (AR) adds to the real scene virtual elements; both of them give the possibility to perform interactions with the product, bringing in the sense of being there. The use of VR/AR techniques are, nowadays, consolidated in the scientific community as support tools along the whole product/process life cycle, but they are not commonly adopted by industry in their day-by-day activities; mainly because virtual application was not always both user friendly, despite their own nature, as well reliable in the presentation of results. In the past 10 years ITIA-CNR Milano has been involved in research and development activities in order to present VR/AR techniques to industries in such a way they can adopt them in their processes. In this paper some case studies are presented.

AUTOMATED SYSTEM FOR QUICK CHOICE OF A RECONFIGURATION VARIANT OF A RECONFIGURABLE MULTIFUNCTIONAL MACHINE TOOL

» Abstract. The paper presents an automated system for choosing of a reconfiguration variant of a reconfigurable multifunctional machine tool. The system is developed in Java programming language. The choice of a variant the machine depends on the production task and is accomplished through different criteria, including previously defined technological indicators. The reconfiguration variant of the machine is visualized which makes it possible to demonstrate of the machine in condition of fully automated manufacturing during the process of complex machining of both rotation and prismatic parts and using different technological operations - turning, milling, drilling, grinding, etc.

POLARIZED ELECTROMAGNET MECHANISM WITH SOFT MAGNET CORE

» Abstract. Determined are the static parameters of a polarized electromagnet with soft magnet cylindrical core, which is suitable for force transducer in automatic devices or for commutation in electric circuits. The method for solving the task for the dynamics of core’s movement is envisaged too.

STEEL SELECTION FOR CASE-HARDENED STEEL GEARS

» Abstract. Having in view that the most damages of gears are due to fatigue breakdown (rupture) and bending, steel selection for case-hardened gears is achieved by starting from this criterion. Within this paper, several aspects concerning steel selection for case-hardened gears, on grounds of bending fatigue breakdown criterion. Endurance strength of case-hardened and hardened steel depends a lot on the induced residual tension state, i.e. those “frozen” voltages existing within a case-hardened and hardened item.
